2020 was a wild year! Our members were challenged to show off their quilting skills with an animal print twist. The challenge entry had to measure 20" x 20" and include at least one animal print fabric.
Created March 2021, based on a painting by Ricardo Chavez-Mendez "African Spirits II" which was created using air brush and graphics. This quilt attempted to invoke a feeling of movement and color... almost like a dreamlike world. Created by drawing this out on the paper side of heat and bond, cutting and ironing each piece to the background fabric, reinforcing all raw edges with satin stitch.
Sherilyn used beautiful thread painting for the face of the woman in her quilt. The ear is 3D with a real earring. Beads form the eyebrow and eye lashes and accent the headdress.
